A new coaching staff, a new offense, and a 7-5 finish. Team 145 didn’t get into the College Football Playoff, but it did manage to beat its main rivals and keep the trophies in Ann Arbor. There’s room to grow next season, and a lot of hope with recruits like Bryce Underwood signing with the Michigan Wolverines.
Still, this season had some great moments and some memorable plays. Here are some of the top plays from the 2024 regular season.
Kalel Mullings’ insane run against USC
Mullings had several key runs this season, including a major first-down gain in Columbus, but his ability to shed tackles against USC was even more impressive. This was early in the season when it seemed like Michigan could still find its groove after the loss to Texas. That didn’t pan out, but Mullings instantly proved he had what it takes to be RB1 in Ann Arbor.

Peyton O’Leary’s great catch against Ohio State
Michigan didn’t put up a lot of points against the Buckeyes, but still managed to move the ball on offense at times. Many of Michigan’s yards came on third-down conversions, including this incredible grab from O’Leary.

Joe Taylor’s FF against Oregon
I’m a sucker for a good special teams play, and Taylor’s forced fumble in the game against Oregon stands out. This play put Michigan in a position to tie the game against the No. 1 team in the country.

Ernest Hausmann’s INT against Washington
Hausmann put Michigan in a great position to beat Washington, and while the offense came up short, it’s hard to forget Hausmann’s play on this pass from Will Rogers.

Davis Warren’s run against Ohio State
There were several plays Warren made in this game to help Michigan upset Ohio State, but this one was sneakily one of his biggest plays of the game. Facing a second-and-10, Warren steps back to pass, but notices daylight in front of him. He takes off and picks up 11 yards for the first down.

Aamir Hall’s INT against Ohio State
It’s hard to imagine Michigan winning this game without Hall’s interception. The Wolverines turned the ball over on downs and backed Ohio State up deep in its own territory. Hall made his second interception in as many games, setting up Michigan’s one and only touchdown of the game.

Semaj Morgan’s TD against Texas
It came in the final minutes it and didn’t mean much in the grand scheme of things, but it’s nice to see the effort by Morgan to get into the end zone.

Josaiah Stewart’s FF against Michigan State
Michigan took care of its rivals this season, and the defense helped put the offense in some good positions in those games. This hit and forced fumble by Stewart is one of the many highlights from him this year.

Will Johnson’s pick-six against USC
There are some complicated feelings about Johnson among the fanbase right now, but it’s hard to deny his impact when he’s on the field. Here’s his final interception as a Wolverine, and man, it was a good one.

Donovan Edwards’ TD pass against Michigan State
Honestly, I wish the coaching staff would’ve let Edwards make a few more throws this year. In a year where Mullings overshadowed him in the run game, this was one of Edwards’ top plays this season. We’ll always remember Edwards could throw a good pass.
