Chargers Sign Bobby Hart, Place Da'Shawn Hand on IR | NFL News (2025)

Big changes are happening for the Los Angeles Chargers! They've made some key roster adjustments that are sure to shake things up. Let's dive into the details, shall we?

First off, defensive lineman Da'Shawn Hand has been placed on Reserve/Injured. This means he'll be sidelined, and the team will need to adjust its defensive strategy. But don't worry, the Chargers aren't sitting still!

To fill the gap, they've signed tackle Bobby Hart to the active roster from the practice squad. Hart's got some serious experience under his belt. He was a seventh-round pick back in the 2015 NFL Draft by the New York Giants. He's started in a good number of games throughout his career, playing for the Giants, Bengals, Titans, and Bills. He even played on the Giants' offensive line back in 2016, helping protect Eli Manning, who threw for over 4,000 yards that season. With the Bengals, Hart helped pave the way for Joe Mixon to have back-to-back 1,000-yard rushing seasons. He also protected Joe Burrow during his rookie year. Hart has even played in three postseason games.

Before his NFL career, Hart was a standout at Florida State University from 2011-2014. He started 37 games, including the final 28 at right tackle. He was part of the Seminoles team that won the final BCS National Championship in 2013, blocking for an offense that set records in total offense, points per game, and total touchdowns. He was recognized as a third-team All-ACC selection in 2014. He protected future No. 1 overall pick Jameis Winston and helped Dalvin Cook become the first Seminole freshman running back to rush for 1,000 yards.

But that's not all! The Chargers have also elevated running back Nyheim Hines and tackle David Sharpe from the practice squad for Sunday's game. Hines, a former fourth-round pick by Indianapolis in the 2018 NFL Draft, brings a lot of versatility to the team. He's a dynamic returner and has experience on offense. In his career, Hines has over 1,200 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns, plus over 1,700 receiving yards and 8 receiving scores. He's also a threat on special teams, with numerous punt and kickoff returns, including a couple of touchdowns. He's been named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week twice, most recently in Week 18 of the 2022 season.

Before his NFL career, Hines played at North Carolina State from 2015-2017. He rushed for nearly 1,400 yards and 13 touchdowns. He was a first-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference selection and earned Sun Bowl MVP honors in 2017. He was also a track athlete, earning All-America status in 2016 for the 4x100-meter relay. He won the outdoor 4x100-meter relay in back-to-back years (2016-17).

David Sharpe, on the other hand, brings veteran experience. He's played in 46 career games with several teams. He was a fourth-round pick by the Oakland Raiders in the 2017 NFL Draft. At the University of Florida, Sharpe played in 33 games, including 26 starts at left tackle.

So, what do you think of these moves? Will Bobby Hart make a significant impact? Are you excited to see what Hines and Sharpe bring to the table? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below! Do you think these changes will help the Chargers improve their performance?
